Facebook’s highest paid employee Sheryl Sandberg on her way to becoming the wealthiest self-made woman

Joining Facebook as its Chief Operating Officer, it wouldn’t be wrong in saying  that Sheryl Sandberg has been instrumental in taking  Facebook and its then kid CEO to much stable and mature levels.

From mentoring and guiding founder Mark Zuckerberg to developing crucial alliances to boost revenues, Sheryl Sandberg has definitely earned the $30.87 million she received as pay in 2011.

Ms.Sandberg is said to hold 1.9 million shares in Facebook which will take her net worth to $2.7 billion after the Facebook IPO. While Oprah might still retain the wealthiest self made woman with a net worth of $2.7 billion, Sandberg would have knocked off  Meg Whitman from the second slot. Ms.Sandberg , who is authorised to use private jet for business purposes might vacate her  $8million home  and move into their recently bought home near Facebook’s headquarters at 1, Hacker Way in Menlo Park.

Sheryl Sandberg holds a BA in Economics and an MBA with the highest distinction from Harvard University, and had worked for Google before joining Facebook. She is considered one of the most powerful business personalities in the world today with deep connections in the business and political circles. Sheryl Sandberg had even hosted a fundraising event for President Obama last year. A management consultant at McKinsey & Company, she later became a chief of staff for Larry Summers, who was U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton. Larry Summers was her professor at Harvard.

    I fail to see how “self-made” gets anywhere near this article. If you called her “male-made” that would fit the facts… she was brought in to put some structure around a male created company, by male dominated investors.

    Self-made means you “made something yourself” she certainly helped substantially and brought sophistication and a “cleaner” structure to the business model, etc given her experience, but self-made, no way, hardworking and smart, and in the right place at the right time, definitely. Congratulations to her. I hope she makes her investors a TON of money.
